Rules, Policies, Procedures and Guidelines

 

Resident Rules

  1. Residents may be required by staff to take alcohol and or drug tests on a random or for cause basis.  Residents may also be required by staff to submit to a search of their person or personal belongings. Refusal to submit to alcohol/drug testing, submitting a positive alcohol/drug screen or refusal to submit to a search of their person or personal belongings WILL result in discharge from the program.  Positive alcohol/drug screens may be verified through an approved laboratory testing facility. All cost of the submitted positive alcohol/drug screen will be charged to the resident. 

  2. Use of or possession of alcohol, drugs, or any paraphernalia, (pipes, paper, etc.) will not be tolerated. Violation of this rule May result in discharge from the program.

  3. Physical violence, verbal abuse or threatening of staff or Residents will not be tolerated in any way. Violation of this rule WILL result in discharge from the program.

  4. Any illegal act May result in discharge and may result in prosecution.

  5. Interaction with the neighbors (waving, talking, etc.) is strictly prohibited.  Residents are to remain in designated areas only.  Violation of this rule May result in immediate discharge from the program.

  6. Gambling or possession of pornography May result in immediate discharge from the program.

  7. Possession of cell phones or electronic devices or use of a visitors/guest cell phone or device May result in discharge from the program. Residents are not allowed to have or use cell phones at their work unless approved by staff.

  8. Profanity and obscene gestures will not be tolerated. Clothing with designs that are not in the spirit of Christianity and recovery cannot be worn on the premises of The Lighthouse. Violation of this rule May result in discharge.

  9. Defacing or destruction of property, buildings, or furniture. Violation of this rule May result in discharge.

  10. Tobacco product use is allowed in designated areas only. Tobacco product use is not allowed in any of the buildings on the campus of Lighthouse including Lighthouse vehicles. Electronic smoking devices are not allowed. Violation of this rule May result in discharge.

  11. Items on the “Do Not Bring” list are prohibited. Anyone bringing back “Do Not Bring” items May be discharged.

  12. Fraternization during special services (Church, Revivals, AA Meetings, Family Education Day, etc.) such as whispering, note passing, or any other activity that might disturb another’s worship and is not conducive to one’s recovery May result in immediate discharge from the program.

  13. Any deviation or attempt to deviate from any of the Freedom Ministries Lighthouse Policies, Procedures and Guidelines including misrepresentation of pass information, May result in immediate discharge from the program.

 

 

Policies

​

  1. The loaning of money, or the exchanging of money in any form, to other Residents, or Staff is prohibited. This includes the sale of items and or completing task such as chores, haircuts, laundry, etc.

  2. The administrative office area is OFF LIMITS after business hours and on weekends.

  3. Residents may enter through back door of Sanctuary to use work-out equipment and ping-pong.

  4. All staff housing is OFF LIMITS.

  5. Lighthouse Mailboxes are OFF LIMITS.

  6. The KITCHEN IS OFF-LIMITS except for those assigned to kitchen duty and ONLY when performing a necessary assigned kitchen task.

  7. Do not go into any other Residents’ room for ANY reason. Residents CANNOT give anyone permission to enter their room. Lighthouse is not responsible for your valuables. Any items left behind after a resident leaves will be considered abandoned.

  8. Shirts should be worn at all times with the exception of approved recreational or work activities.

  9. Wake up time is 6:30 unless the resident’s duty assignment requires an earlier awakening time.  Beds are off limits from wake up time until after the evening session except by permission from staff Monday - Friday.  Saturday and Sunday afternoons, bed rest will be allowed after kitchen and dining area cleaning from the noon meal until 4:30 pm. 

  10. Quiet time begins at 10:30 pm. No loud talking and TV’s are to be reduced in volume. Residents are to be quiet, in bed with all lights out, no later than 11:15 pm. No one is to be up or out of their rooms for at least 1 hour after lights out.

  11. Residents that awake after 12:15 a.m. or before 6:30 a.m. may use designated areas ONLY. Please be quiet. Do not wake anyone. No showering, shaving, etc. before all room-mates are awake.

  12. Church and special services dress code and conduct. Shoes, long pants, and shirts with collars are required when attending church or special services. No gum, food, or drink is to be taken into the church. Residents are required to comply with all requests by the Pastor or leader, including standing, singing and not disturbing others around them by talking or not paying attention.

  13. Phone Calls: After the resident’s first 30 days he may, if group has not been placed on restriction, make ONE phone call up to 20-minutes per day at designated times. Resident may also make a 20-minute call to his sponsor. Any abuse of this privilege may result in individual or group restrictions.

  14. Visitors: Authorized visitors, if previously approved, are allowed visitation privileges following the resident’s FIRST FULL month. Only immediate family members listed on the resident’s intake form will be considered for authorization. No girlfriend or fiance will be an approved visitor. To be an authorized visitor, you Must have a signed statement of commitment and support on file with The Lighthouse staff And attend Al-Anon/Nar-Anon meetings or Celebrate Recovery - Must have chairperson sign attendance sheet. Authorized visitors, if approved, may visit between noon and 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays (subject to change by the Program Director). Please notify staff upon your arrival. A resident is sometimes allowed to leave the campus with his authorized visitor but must have an approved pass to do so. The Resident Must not deviate from the locations approved on the pass and may not visit with non-approved individuals during this pass. Residents are responsible for finding a fellow resident to do their lunch time chore before leaving. The pass request is to be submitted to the resident’s counselor no later than noon on Wednesday and resident must be signed out when leaving and signed back in upon returning by a staff member. Visitors are not allowed in any resident’s room. When returning from pass, Residents and visitors must enter the office and bring all items that are being brought back from pass to be approved. Once signed in, a resident should not return to a visitor’s vehicle.

  15. Residents are not allowed to have visitors show up at their place of employment this will result in discharge.

  16. Television Privilege: Monday - Thursday: 4:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Friday – Sunday 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

  17. Employment: Once a resident begins work, he is required to work a minimum of 90 days on the same job. At this point he may put in a request form to change jobs. “If” the request is approved resident will work out a two-week notice before leaving.

  18. Continuous or repetitive violations of Freedom Ministries Lighthouse Polices May result in discharge from the program.

 

 

Procedures

 

  1. Daily bathing, shaving, and a neat, clean appearance are mandatory. You Must Shave Every Morning. Shower shoes are not to be worn outside your room. Pajama type pants may be worn after 9 p.m.

  2. Residents are responsible to ensure that all living areas are kept neat and clean at All times. The senior man are responsible for assigning the task for cleaning the shower, sink, trash, floor and toilet. House inspection is at 8:25 a.m.

  3. All morning chores are to be completed by 8:00 a.m. and men are to be in their respective area. Excessive gigs, (7), will result in the entire resident community losing phone, TV privilege for the day. Continuous or repetitive violations of Freedom Ministries Lighthouse Procedures May result in discharge from the program.

 

You Are Responsible For Knowing And Understanding These Procedures. Ignorance Of Any Of The Procedures Is Not An Excuse!!!  If You Have Any Questions, Please Ask!!!  Otherwise, You Could Be Discharged For Not Knowing!!!

Guidelines

 

  1. If you are not told – “Yes you can,” then No You Can’t!!!

  2. Butt Cans are for cigarette butts ONLY!!!  No trash, no spitting, no anything other than cigarette butts!

  3. Take mop buckets to the designated area – at least 50 feet away from the house. Rinse the mop out when you are done.

  4. No leaning back in your chair or propping your feet in them.

  5. No pants hanging below your waist.

  6. No romancing about alcohol, drugs, sex or anything relating to your past using lifestyle.

  7. Do Not leave drinking cups sitting around. When you leave an area take your cup with you.

  8. You are required to take your Bible to church and all Bible Studies!

  9. Do Not prop any doors open!!

  10. Practical jokes are prohibited!  Just because you think it will be funny doesn’t mean that others will!

  11. Do Not toss drinks outside doors or pour them into the flower beds etc. Use approved sinks for disposal.

  12. Do Not use derogatory remarks when asked to complete tasks. Phrases such as “You do it,” are not allowed.

  13. Continuous or repetitive violations of Freedom Ministries Lighthouse Guidelines May result in discharge from the program.
